Uganda Cranes convened at FUFA-Kadiba Stadium for a recovery session after a disappointing start to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Algeria at Mandela National Stadium and is now focusing on their upcoming match against Guinea on Friday.
The Federation's facility, Kadiba Stadium, which was established with funding from FIFA, hosted the Cranes as they aimed to address the weaknesses exposed in the match against Algeria. Coaches Morley Byekwaso and Fred Muhumuza are under pressure to lead the team to a better performance in the upcoming fixture.
Following the loss, Coach Muhumuza acknowledged Algeria's superiority but expressed optimism about the team's improvement in the upcoming matches. He emphasized the need for resilience and determination in the face of challenges, stating, "We played a team that is better than us but the players and us coaches will not frown and drop our heads. We must raise again and make ourselves count."
As the team prepares to face Guinea, adjustments are expected from the technical bench to address the shortcomings witnessed in the previous game. Group C, which Uganda is part of, includes Guinea, Algeria, Niger, and South Africa, setting the stage for competitive matches in the tournament.
