The UCU Lady Canons have punched their ticket to the National Basketball League Playoff Semifinals after defeating KIU Rangers in a thrilling two-game series. The Lady Canons' victory came on the heels of a stunning comeback in Game 2, which they won 57-52 on Sunday evening at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The game got off to a strong start for KIU Rangers, who controlled the opening quarter and won it 21-9. However, their offense dried up in the second quarter, which saw both teams combine for just 16 points. The Lady Canons struggled to find their rhythm, but they eventually found their footing in the third quarter.

Sylvia Nakituka found her range from deep, while Matrina Anyango dominated in the paint, bullying Sharon Kirabo on drives to the basket. Zoe Atek and Shila Lamunu also ran good transition, with Lamunu tying the game at 35 with 1:24 left to play. Anyango then put the Lady Canons ahead to close out the quarter, leading 37-35.

However, KIU Rangers regrouped in the fourth quarter and ran quick transitions, with Djeneba Ballo leading the charge. The Rangers took a 6-point lead, forcing Nick Natuhereza to call a timeout. But the Lady Canons erased the deficit with triples from Nakituka and Mariam Asacha, and Lamunu's layup gave them the lead. The Lady Canons took control from there, with KIU Rangers struggling with foul trouble.

Lamunu led the Lady Canons with 12 points, despite shooting poorly from the line. Nakituka and Anyango also scored in double figures, with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Atek contributed 9 points to the Lady Canons' effort. Elizabeth Akol and Kirabo led KIU Rangers with 15 points apiece in the losing effort.
