Liverpool FC faces a critical juncture as pressure mounts on manager Arne Slot, with club legend Jamie Carragher declaring the Dutchman has just seven days to reverse the team's alarming decline.
The Reds' disastrous 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV on Wednesday marked their ninth loss in 12 matches – their worst form since 1953. Currently languishing in 12th Premier League place, Slot's side now prepares for pivotal fixtures against West Ham, Leeds, and Sunderland.
"Anything fewer than seven points will make an already unacceptable situation untenable,"
Carragher wrote in his Telegraph column, emphasizing that Liverpool's hierarchy cannot ignore the drastic drop in performance. Despite Slot guiding the club to Premier League glory last season, the Sky Sports analyst argued recent tactical changes have destabilized the team's identity.
Tactical Missteps and Transfer Blunders
The former Liverpool defender criticized Slot for abandoning the club's defensive foundations, noting:
"It felt wrong on day one of the season, and it has led to a mess right now."
Carragher also lambasted the club's £440m summer spending spree, particularly the dual signings of strikers Alexander Isak (£125m) and Hugo Ekitike (£80m), calling it "like betting on two horses in the same race."

With Liverpool facing three winnable matches in quick succession, Carragher suggested this stretch could determine Slot's fate:
"If it gets any worse and the manager cannot find the answers, the club will have no choice but to find someone else who can."
