An Ineos Grenadiers staff member has withdrawn from the Tour de France following an inquiry from the International Testing Agency (ITA) related to doping claims from the 2012 season. David Rozman, a soigneurs responsible for supporting riders with logistics and medical care, was formally requested by the ITA to participate in an interview, prompting his departure from the event.
The team, previously known as Team Sky, achieved a historic victory in 2012 when Bradley Wiggins claimed the Tour de France title. Ineos Grenadiers stated that Rozman was initially contacted in April 2025 by ITA representatives about alleged historical communications, though the agency confirmed he was not under investigation at the time. The team immediately initiated an independent legal review to address the claims.
Rozman’s involvement in the matter comes amid renewed scrutiny of the team’s past. Earlier this month, the Irish Independent reported that he had exchanged messages with Mark Schmidt, a German doping doctor convicted in 2021 for orchestrating illegal blood transfusions across multiple sports under Operation Aderlass. A 2024 documentary by German TV network ARD also implicated Ineos in connections with Schmidt, though it did not disclose the identities of those involved.
The ITA declined to comment further, stating that its investigations are conducted confidentially and that findings will only be disclosed if anti-doping violations are confirmed. Ineos Grenadiers reiterated its cooperation with authorities, while noting that no conclusive evidence has been presented. The team stressed its dedication to upholding integrity, despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the allegations.
