Aston Villa have secured the return of Tammy Abraham in a permanent transfer worth £18.2 million, reuniting the striker with the club where he previously excelled during a loan spell.

The 28-year-old, who earned 11 caps for England, previously helped Villa secure promotion to the Premier League in the 2018/19 season. After departing Chelsea for Roma in 2021, Abraham’s recent journey included loan stints at AC Milan and Besiktas, where he netted 12 goals this season before the Turkish club finalized his permanent signing for £11.2 million—only to sell him days later to Villa for a £7 million profit.

Strategic Move for Villa

Abraham will now compete with Ollie Watkins for a starting role under manager Unai Emery. His arrival follows a series of transactions between Villa and Roma, including winger Leon Bailey’s recalled loan and Donyell Malen’s permanent switch to the Italian club earlier this month.

Midfield Reinforcement

In addition to Abraham’s signing, Villa have verbally agreed to bring back former midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan from Juventus, with an option to buy. The Brazilian reportedly prioritized a return to Villa Park, citing it as the happiest phase of his career.
