Kenya Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy took a teasing jab at rivals Tanzania as they prepare to face Morocco in the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship quarterfinals. The South African tactician displayed confidence and satisfaction after his team topped Group A, which included two-time champions Morocco, DR Congo, powerhouse Zambia, and Angola.

Finishing above the Atlas Lions ensured the co-hosts, Kenya, would remain in Nairobi for their last-eight encounter against Madagascar, while Tanzania also stays in Dar es Salaam. McCarthy humorously remarked, "Tanzania will get their wish, and they will experience what we experienced. The group of death, now Morocco is heading to Tanzania."

McCarthy also expressed his desire for feedback after the Morocco match, stating, "I want feedback after the Morocco game, so that they know what we went through every game in this tournament. Good luck to Tanzania."

Ryan Ogama scored the decisive goal, securing Kenya's victory over Zambia and ensuring their position on home soil with 10 points, one point ahead of Morocco. McCarthy highlighted his satisfaction with the win, stating, "At the end of the day, I am happy with the win because we get to play our next match in the quarterfinals, and we stay in Kenya, and that is all that is important."

Kenya is expected to be the favorites against Madagascar, who finished second in Group B behind co-hosts Tanzania. However, McCarthy warned against complacency, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and discipline.
