Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he is ready to negotiate alternative fights for Conor Benn if a highly anticipated rematch with Chris Eubank Jr fails to materialize soon. The two fighters clashed in an intense 12-round bout in April, where Eubank Jr emerged victorious via a unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The first fight, which captivated boxing fans, saw both fighters deliver a thrilling performance, with Eubank Jr securing the win on all three judges' scorecards (116-112). Despite Eubank Jr's reported struggles with making the 160lb weight limit ahead of the initial fight, a potential rematch is expected to proceed under the same terms. However, Hearn and Benn are not waiting indefinitely and are actively considering other opportunities.

"Conor's priority is the rematch, but we have to be realistic," said Hearn. "If we can't get it signed this week, we’ll look at other options. There are some exciting possibilities for Conor at 147lbs, including a potential showdown with Shakur Stevenson."

One proposed date for the rematch is September 20, which would require both fighters to begin their eight-week preparation period soon. The British Boxing Board of Control has confirmed they have no objections to the rematch taking place at 160lbs.

Eubank Jr faced scrutiny after the first fight when he was fined £10,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for "misuse of social media." The controversy stemmed from footage he posted showing himself using a sauna to cut weight. Additionally, Eubank Jr revealed he was hospitalized due to dehydration following the bout.

As the boxing world watches closely, Hearn remains focused on securing the best path forward for Benn, whether it’s a rematch with Eubank Jr or a new challenge in the ring.
