Promoter Eddie Hearn is reportedly exploring alternative fight opportunities for Conor Benn if a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr is not finalized soon. The two fighters clashed in a thrilling 12-round bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, with Eubank Jr emerging victorious via unanimous decision. Despite the intense contest, the rematch remains uncertain, prompting Hearn to consider other lucrative options for Benn.

Eubank Jr’s win came after a grueling battle, with all three judges scoring the fight 116-112 in his favor. However, the British boxer faced significant challenges making the 160lb weight limit ahead of the first fight, which led to dehydration and a subsequent hospital visit. The British Boxing Board of Control has since confirmed they have no objections to the rematch taking place at the same weight class.

A potential rematch date has been proposed for September 20, just over two months away. Both camps would require at least eight weeks of preparation, adding urgency to the negotiations. While Benn has expressed a strong preference for the Eubank Jr rematch, he has other compelling options at 147lbs, including a possible bout with Shakur Stevenson, which was hinted at during a recent chat show appearance in New York.

Eubank Jr also faced controversy ahead of the first fight after posting social media footage of himself using a sauna, which led to a £10,000 fine from the British Boxing Board of Control for "misuse of social media." Despite these hurdles, the boxing world remains eager to see if the rematch will come to fruition or if Hearn will pivot to secure Benn’s next fight elsewhere.
