On the 26th and 27th of this month, the Democratic Front (DF) Electoral Commission will initiate the nomination process for the party's candidates from the Masaka subregion. The announcement was made by Henry Lubowa, the Chairperson of the DF Electoral Commission and Secretary for Mobilization, during a media briefing at the party headquarters in Namirembe.

The two-day nomination exercise, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, will cover all the districts comprising Greater Masaka. The targeted districts include Masaka City, Masaka Rural, Kalungu, Lwengo, Kyotera, Rakai, Lyantonde, Bukomansimbi, and Ssembabule. Following the conclusion of the nominations in Greater Masaka, the commission will proceed to the Acholi subregion on Friday next week to nominate aspiring candidates from the Acholi, Lango, and West Nile regions, as stated by Mr. Henry Lubowa.

Lubowa emphasized that the nomination exercise is scheduled to conclude by the end of this month, allowing sufficient time for the party's branches to conduct a thorough evaluation of the nominated candidates. This process will ultimately lead to the selection of the most suitable candidates to be presented to the National Electoral Commission for final endorsement.

These developments were disclosed during today's nomination exercise at the DF headquarters, which witnessed the participation of numerous aspiring candidates. Among them were over 20 aspirants from the Teso subregion, many of whom had previously been affiliated with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). These candidates are seeking the DF's endorsement for various local government positions, including sub-county chairpersons, town council mayors, and councilors. The Teso delegation was led by the party's Deputy President for the Eastern region, who is also vying for the Soroti East parliamentary seat on the DF ticket.

In addition to the Teso delegation, the commission also nominated over 10 aspirants from Butambala district, led by Nakiboneka Faridah, who is aspiring for the position of Butambala District Chairperson. Similarly, the DF Electoral Commission received interest forms and nominated several aspirants from the Luweero region, led by Mr. Ronald Kasagga Bazannyanengo, who is seeking the Katikamu North parliamentary seat in Luweero district.
