Spain's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Cata Coll emerged as the hero in a tense 0-0 draw against Germany during the first leg of the UEFA Women's Nations League final at Fritz-Walter-Stadion.

The Barcelona shot-stopper produced multiple crucial saves, including:

  • Denying Klara Buhl's close-range attempt in the first half
  • Blocking Franziska Kett's effort with her legs
  • Stopping Sjoeke Nusken's late stoppage-time chance

Germany dominated early proceedings with Nicole Anyomi hitting the post in the opening minutes, while Spain's Irene Paredes cleared a Jule Brand shot off the line before halftime.

The second half saw both sides strike the woodwork - Spain's Esther Gonzalez from Mariona Caldentey's cross (53') and Germany's Buhl with a long-range drive (67').

"Coll's performance was decisive in keeping Spain level heading into the second leg," match analysts noted.

The teams will reconvene at Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano on December 2 for the decisive second leg, with the aggregate winner claiming the inaugural Women's Nations League title.
