Bryan Mbeubo's Leadership Qualities Could Seal Manchester United Move

Manchester United’s pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeubo is gaining momentum as the club continues negotiations with the Premier League side. The Cameroonian international has already made it clear that he sees himself as a leader on the pitch, a quality that aligns perfectly with manager Ruben Amorim’s vision for the team.

Since taking over at Old Trafford, Amorim has been vocal about the need for strong leadership within the squad. Earlier this year, the Portuguese coach emphasized that the team was “starving for leaders on the pitch.” This sentiment echoes previous concerns raised by Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff, who also identified a lack of vocal leaders in the group.

Mbeubo’s recent comments suggest he could fill that void. In an interview with The Telegraph last October, the 25-year-old stated, “I feel like a leader in the team. Everybody needs to take responsibility, but I have been at the club for five years now. At some point, you need to be a leader.” He also acknowledged the heightened expectations following Ivan Toney’s departure to Al-Ahli, saying, “I don’t feel any pressure. At the end of the day, I know what I need to do.”

The forward’s ambition extends beyond leadership. Mbeubo emphasized his drive for continuous improvement, stating, “I don’t want to set limits on myself. I think I can always go higher. I want to be the best at what I do, every time.”

United remain confident in securing Mbeubo’s signature, despite Brentford rejecting two bids that fell short of their £60 million-plus valuation. Talks are ongoing as both clubs seek a compromise.
